What were the steps? How long did it take? What did you need to do? Who did you need to know? Tuesday, March 16th, these writers will discuss all this and more: the process of getting staffed, the experience of being in the room, writers’ rooms in the time of COVID, and tips and tools that helped get them to this milestone. D. DONA LE

D. Dona Le is a staff writer on FBI: MOST WANTED. She has a one-hour pilot, CONSERVATORY, in development at Homegrown Pictures. Her pilot DUST CHILD was selected for the 2020 CAPE List, and she was one of eight writers accepted to the CAPE New Writers Fellowship last year. DUST CHILD was also named a Top 10 Finalist in the 2020 Launch Pad TV Pilot Competition and was a Launch Pad Mentorship Program Winner.

ELAINE LOH

Elaine Loh spent a decade as a working actor before crossing over to the other side of the camera and becoming a writer on the CW’s Dynasty (a top ten worldwide show on Netflix), as well as on Gossip Girl for HBOMax. Her short form series, Doxxed, won a Telly Award, Best Short Comedy at the Catalyst Film Festival, and Best Achievement at Raindance. Elaine is also a Silver Prize winner of the prestigious PAGE Awards and an HBO Writing Fellow.

NATALIA TEMESGEN

Natalia Temesgen is a playwright and TV writer based in Georgia. Her plays have been produced nationally and won multiple awards and accolades. Her TV drama pilot “Bea Rose,” based on one of her plays, was a 2019 Launch Pad Top 100 Finalist. Natalia was a Staff Writer on the fourth and final season of Netflix’s “Dear White People” and is currently a Story Editor on the upcoming HBOMax series “Julia,” about the beloved TV chef, Julia Child.

NIDA CHOWDHRY

Nida Chowdhry is a Pakistani-American writer, director, and actor from Orange County, California. She created, wrote and directed the mini series ‘Unfair & Ugly’, a dramedy about a South Asian Muslim American family in Orange County trying to keep it together (Refinery29, NBC, Aljazeera). She has written for Young Justice (Warner Bros.), Mira, Royal Detective (Disney), and for upcoming shows on Netflix and Apple TV+.

JESS JU

Jess Ju is the Director of Programs and Operations at CAPE, a non-profit organization that champions diversity by connecting, educating, and empowering Asian American and Pacific Islander artists and leaders in entertainment and media. At CAPE, she oversees pillar programs such as the CAPE New Writers Fellowship and the CAPE Leaders Fellowship. Prior to CAPE, Ju was the Assistant Company Manager at American Conservatory Theater, San Francisco’s largest non-profit theater, and spent several summers interning with East West Players. Ju is also a co-founder and producer of BAD Repertory Theater, an Asian American sketch comedy and improv group based in the Bay Area.
